Hope Network understands the value of your time. We are always looking for volunteers to assist us with our regular services and programs, as well as with our yearly fundraisers and other special events. Listed below are the volunteer opportunities currently available with Hope Network.
When: Tuesdays between 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Wednesdays between 1:30-6:00 p.m., and Thursdays between 4:00-8:30 p.m.
Stockers - Help stock food pantry shelves. Requires the ability to lift, bend, stoop, and follow directions, as well as a pleasant disposition.
Personal Shoppers - Assist clients while they shop the Pantry. Requires enjoying working with others, the ability to stand for long periods of time, and willingness to work in inclement weather. Some knowledge of grocery items helpful.
Off Site Donation Pick Up and Deliveries
Minimum age requirement to volunteer in the food pantry is 16 years old.
Senior Commodities Food Program
When: Third Thursday of each month available between 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Registration - Greet clients and ask them to sign in on pre-made sign in sheet. Requires enjoying working with people, detail-oriented, ability to work in fast-paced environment.
Runners - Load shopping carts with client’s commodities. Requires enjoying working with people. Must be able to lift 25 lbs, able to stand for long periods of time, follow directions, and able to work in inclement weather.
Harvesters BackSnack Program
When: 7:30 a.m. Thursday mornings in the garage area
Drivers - Pick up food/backpacks on designated days from First Baptist Raytown garage area and deliver to participating elementary schools. Requires good driving record, availability during daytime hours, pleasant disposition, ability to drive in inclement weather, and ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Packers - Place food items in bags and place bags into backpacks. Requires availability during daytime hours, attention to detail, pleasant disposition, and ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Some short-distance travel may be necessary.
Gifts of Hope Christmas Assistance
When: Seasonal - November and December
Gifts of Hope Table Attendants - Stand at Gifts of Hope Adoption Table and provide information/assistance to those interested in adopting one of the children off the tree. (Interested volunteers will be provided training information at least 1-2 weeks prior to start date.) Requires availability on Sunday mornings before and after services, enjoy working with people, attention to detail.
Christmas Party Gift Distributors - Pass out Gifts of Hope gifts to selected recipients. Requires great attention to detail, enjoy working with people, ability to work in colder temperatures/inclement weather, ability to lift up to 20lbs.
Christmas Party Servers - Assist in preparation of food for Christmas Party, assist in room decoration for party, serve food on serving line during party, random pick up of food/decoration items on day of party, help keep tables clean, assist with clean-up at end of evening. Requires ability to carry items short distances, stand for long periods of time, enjoy working with people, ability to follow directions, flexibility concerning job assignments.
Vehicle Repair Assistance
Time: as needed
Auto Mechanics - Hope Network offers vehicle repair assistance on an as needed, as available basis. If you have skilled training in auto repairs and/or the ability to assist with routine car maintenance (such as oil changes, tire pressure checks, etc.), please contact us.
