What is your role at Connection Point?
My job as the bookstore manager entails coordinating a schedule for employees and buying books and gifts for the store. I also work hard to maintain a space that looks clean and inviting. When Connection Point has ticketed events, I often sell tickets, too!
What's your favorite part of serving at Connection Point?
I love to help people connect with whatever might help them to grow in their faith walk. Sometimes that's a book or Bible, often it is a gift item that allows them to encourage others.
Tell us something about yourself!
I grew up in Iowa, the fifth of six children. I came to know Christ at the age of 15, after a statewide summer youth camp. I left Iowa to attend college in Bolivar, Missouri, where I earned a degree in Christian Education, but sang all four years in choir. It was there I met my husband, Gary, who is from Oklahoma. After we married in 1987, we lived in California for a little over a year, serving at a church. We moved back to the states in 1989, landing in Kansas City. We settled in Raytown, after we found our church home. Our daughters were both born in the 1990's. We have been active in choir, drama, and teaching ministry for many years.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to spend time with family and friends, exploring the local sites and enjoying the cuisine. I enjoy reading, cooking and decorating. Lately, my family has taken driving trips that have included a number of National Parks and historic sites. Gary plans, the girls find coffee, and I enjoy the ride!
