Larry came on board as the interim Associate Pastor in May 2008, expecting his time at FBR to last a few months, but in September 2008, he was invited to become a permanent fixture in our staff family. Larry makes hospital visits, leads our Wednesday prayer meeting and Sunday evening Bible study, and often makes his fellow staff members laugh in meetings with his sense of humor.
Larry has spent most of his life in ministry in several churches and capacities. He began as a pastor at the age of 17 and claims to have been as green as a gourd but willing to learn. While he spends a great deal of time doing ministry, Larry makes time for some hobbies and projects. He collects red Bohemian glass, refinishes antiques, and makes pens and other wood projects. He also enjoys playing golf, but admittedly hasn’t improved as a golfer through the years. Larry and his wife, Janet, who he met on a Valentine’s Day blind date in college, have four children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Larry’s favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”
