Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4-7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Overview: The Bible is not just another book—it is the living Word of God, breathed out to equip us for every good work. Scripture reminds us that God created us for relationship with Him, calls us to obedience, and gives us truth to live by. From Deuteronomy’s call to pass down God’s Word, to 2 Timothy’s assurance that all Scripture is profitable, the Bible is both our foundation and our guide.

From Deuteronomy’s call to pass down God’s Word, to 2 Timothy’s assurance that all Scripture is profitable, the Bible is both our foundation and our guide.
Main Points:
- God’s Word is living, active, and powerful—it transforms those who read and obey it.
- Faith is meant to be taught and lived out at home, through everyday conversations and intentional moments.
- We must approach the Bible with hunger and reverence, not apathy or routine.
- Without God’s Word, we are incomplete and ill-equipped for life and faith.
- The Gospel is the central truth of Scripture: Jesus saves sinners and calls us into relationship with Him.
Discussion Questions:
For Kids
- What makes the Bible different from any other book?
- Why is it important to read and learn from the Bible regularly?
- Can you think of a time when a Bible story or verse helped you?
For Students & Adults
- In what ways do we sometimes treat the Bible like a textbook or routine task instead of God’s living Word?
- How can we create “Faith Talks” or “God Moments” in our own homes and daily lives?
- What excuses keep you from engaging with God’s Word, and how can you address them this week?
Application: Take time this week to not only read your Bible but to live it out. Choose a passage, meditate on it, and then put it into practice. Share what God is teaching you with your family, your friends, or your Life Group.
Life Group
Scripture: 1 Kings 12-16; 2 Chronicles 12-13
Christ/Gospel Connections:
All of Scripture points back to Jesus. In our study each week, every age group’s lesson includes a note about how the message connects to Christ. Use these Christ/Gospel Connections as a springboard for meaningful discussion about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
Preschool – The kings of Israel led the people away from God. We all disobey God when we sin. Jesus died to take the punishment for our sins and rose again to bring us back to God.
Kids – The first kings of Israel led the people to disobey God and to worship idols. Israel’s kings suffered the consequences of their sin. We all sin when we disobey God and worship other things. Jesus died and rose again to pay for our sin and bring us back to God.
Students – The kings of Israel led the people astray. Under their leadership, Israel fell into idol worship and did what was evil in God’s eyes. Christ is the King of kings, and He perfectly leads us to worship the Father.
Adults – So often the kings of Israel and Judah led their people astray into idolatry that imitated the world, but a true king leads his people to worship faithfully the one true God. Jesus came as this King, for He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

Discussion Questions:
For Kids

- What happens when we put other things before God in our lives?
- How does Jesus help us follow God even when we make wrong choices?
For Students & Adults
- What “idols” in our culture tempt us to imitate the world instead of Christ?
- How does recognizing Jesus as our true King change how we live?
- Where do you see God’s faithfulness even when earthly leaders fail?
