Life Group
Scripture: Jeremiah 17; 29–31
Christ/Gospel Connections:
All of Scripture points back to Jesus. In our study each week, every age group’s lesson includes a note about how the message connects to Christ. Use these Christ/Gospel Connections as a springboard for meaningful discussion about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
Preschool – The people couldn’t follow God’s rules perfectly, so God made a new promise. When we trust in Jesus, we are part of this new promise, and God’s teachings are with us forever.
Kids – Like God’s people, we all have sinful hearts that do not obey God or love Him rightly. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, God made a new covenant. Those who trust in Jesus have their sin forgiven and have the law written on their hearts.
Students – Jeremiah prophesied about a coming day when God would write His law on His people’s hearts and provide lasting forgiveness of sin. This prophecy points to God’s provision of Jesus. Through Jesus, God offers us forgiveness, and through the Holy Spirit, God enables us to obey His commands.
Adults – The new covenant was established through Jesus, the Son of God, who was a substitute for the penalty of our sin. He fulfilled the law completely and writes the law on our hearts, and we are adopted as children of God. Through the new covenant, all who believe and trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior are saved as a free gift because of God’s grace and mercy.
