Life Group
Scripture: Matthew 4; Mark 1; Luke 4
Christ/Gospel Connections:
All of Scripture points back to Jesus. In our study each week, every age group’s lesson includes a note about how the message connects to Christ. Use these Christ/Gospel Connections as a springboard for meaningful discussion about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
Preschool – Jesus always did the right thing. He died on the cross to rescue us from sin. When we are tempted to sin, we can ask Jesus to help us say no to sin.
Kids – Like us, Jesus experienced temptation. But unlike us, Jesus never sinned. When we repent and believe Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins and rose again, God credits us with Jesus’ perfect life.
Students – Jesus stepped into our world and overcame the temptation Adam did not overcome. Jesus showed He is fully obedient to the Father. He is the only One worthy of undoing the consequences of Adam's sin and bringing blessing to all people (Genesis 12:3). Jesus’s life of obedience led Him to the cross, where He conquered sin and death as our Savior.
Adults – Jesus was tempted as we are, yet He resisted the devil’s temptations and remained without sin. Thus, He was the blameless sacrifice needed to atone for our sins.
