Sermon
Title: The Ordinances of the Church
Scripture: Matthew 26:26–30; Matthew 28:18–20
Overview: Jesus gave the church two ordinances to faithfully practice: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These ordinances do not save us, but they visibly proclaim the gospel and remind believers of Christ’s work. Baptism identifies a believer with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper calls believers to remember Christ’s sacrifice and anticipate His return. Together, these ordinances strengthen the church and point people to Jesus.
Main Points:
Discussion Questions:
For Kids
For Students & Adults
Application: Spend time thanking Jesus for His sacrifice and salvation. If you have never been baptized after trusting Christ, consider taking that next step of obedience.

Life Group
Scripture: John 3
Christ/Gospel Connections:
All of Scripture points back to Jesus. In our study each week, every age group’s lesson includes a note about how the message connects to Christ. Use these Christ/Gospel Connections as a springboard for meaningful discussion about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
Preschool – Now that Jesus was here, John’s job was done. John was happy to step aside so Jesus could tell people about God and His kingdom.
Kids – John pointed people to believe in Jesus as the Messiah. When people believe in Jesus as the Messiah, they receive eternal life and can point others to believe in Jesus too!
Students – Jesus showed us how to decrease when He lowered Himself in obedience to the Father’s will and came to earth as a human. He took on our sin and paid our debt so that we could have right relationship with the Father and forgiveness for our sin. Jesus pointed all glory to the Father and took on the role of a servant.
Adults – Jesus is the Messiah and God the Son, coming from above to give eternal life to those who believe in Him, so He is worthy to be put first in our lives.
