Faith Talk – June 21, 2026

Faith Talks are designed to help you keep the conversation going beyond Sunday morning. Use this guide with your family or friends to reflect on the sermon and Life Group lesson, pray together, and put God’s Word into practice. Think of this guide as a starting place—then let God shape the conversation.

Sermon

Title: The Doctrine of Stewardship

Scripture: Proverbs 3:9-10

Overview: Everything we have ultimately belongs to God. Stewardship is the faithful management of the resources, opportunities, and responsibilities He has entrusted to us. Scripture teaches that believers are called to honor God not only with their finances but also with their time, abilities, and commitment to His truth. As followers of Christ, we recognize that we are managers—not owners—and will one day give an account for how we used what God placed in our care.

Main Points:
  • Our Assets
  • Our Allocations
    • The Institution the Church Is
    • The Distribution the Church Has
  • Our Accountability
    • Our Treasure
    • Our Time
    • Our Talents
    • The Truth

Discussion Questions:
For Kids
  • What are some things God has given you that you can use to honor Him?
  • Why do you think God wants us to share and help others?
  • How can you use your time and talents to serve God this week?

For Students & Adults
  • How does remembering that God owns everything change the way you view your possessions?
  • Which area of stewardship is most challenging for you right now: treasure, time, talents, or truth? Why?
  • What practical step can you take this week to better honor God with what He has entrusted to you?

Application: Identify one resource God has entrusted to you—whether money, time, abilities, or influence—and intentionally use it this week to honor Him and bless others.

Life Group

Scripture: Mark 1; Luke 4

Christ/Gospel Connections:
All of Scripture points back to Jesus. In our study each week, every age group’s lesson includes a note about how the message connects to Christ. Use these Christ/Gospel Connections as a springboard for meaningful discussion about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

Preschool – Jesus healed sick people with His great power. Jesus is the King. One day, He will take away all sickness, sin, and sadness forever.

Kids – Jesus has all authority and power to heal the sick and save sinners. Anyone who repents and trusts in Him will be forgiven of sin and can look forward to the new heaven and earth where sin, death, and sickness will no longer exist.

Students – When Jesus approved the man who was possessed by demons, evens the demons recognized His authority. Jesus would later demonstrate His authority over sin and evil in a greater way through His crucifixion and resurrection. Sin no longer has power over those who trust Jesus.

Adults – Jesus’s authority over the physical world and over the spiritual world includes His authority over Satan and demons as well as over sin, guilt, shame, and death. This authority and power reveal His identity as the Son of God.

Discussion Questions:
For Kids
  • What does Jesus’ power to heal people teach us about who He is?
  • Why can we trust Jesus when we are afraid or worried?
  • What are you thankful that Jesus has the power to do?

For Students & Adults
  • What stands out to you about the way people responded to Jesus’ authority in these passages?
  • How does Jesus’ authority over both the physical and spiritual worlds encourage you today?
  • In what area of your life do you need to trust Christ’s authority more fully?

Pray Together

  • Thank God for providing everything we need and for sending Jesus, who has authority over sin, sickness, and death.
  • Commit to faithfully stewarding the resources, opportunities, and responsibilities God has entrusted to you.
  • Ask God to help you trust Christ’s authority, use your gifts for His glory, and point others to the hope found in Him.

Activity

As a family or group, make a list of things God has entrusted to each person—time, talents, possessions, friendships, and opportunities. Then discuss one practical way each person can use one of those gifts to honor God and serve others this week.
