Title: How Love Behaves: The Parable of the Good Samaritan
Scripture: Luke 10:25–37
Overview: Jesus used the story of the Good Samaritan to show what genuine love for others looks like. Authentic faith is more than what we know or say we believe. It becomes visible through the way we respond to the people God places in our path. The Samaritan saw someone in need, allowed compassion to move him, and took action to help. Jesus calls us to demonstrate a faith that can be seen, measured, and commended through genuine love for others.
Big Idea: Authentic faith is seeable, it’s measurable, and it’s commendable.

Application: Pay attention to the people God places in your path this week. Instead of asking whether someone is your responsibility, ask how you can demonstrate the love of Christ to them. Look for one specific need you can meet, one person you can encourage, or one opportunity to show compassion through action.

Christ/Gospel Connections:
All of Scripture points back to Jesus. In our study each week, every age group’s lesson includes a note about how the message connects to Christ. Use these Christ/Gospel Connections as a springboard for meaningful discussion about who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
Preschool – Jesus came to forgive sinners, even people who did very wrong things. He died and came back to life so we can be part of God’s family.
Kids – Everyone has sinned and owes a debt they could never repay. Jesus, the only sinless one, died in our place to pay the debt for our sin. When we trust in Jesus, we are forgiven of all our sins and are credited with Jesus’ perfect life.
Students – Our sin created debt, a payment so extreme that we could never repay it with our own good works or sacrifices. Instead, Jesus willingly surrendered Himself as the sacrifice for our sin. He paid our debt with His blood and covered us permanently.
Adults – Jesus came to forgive sinners, and He did so through His death and resurrection, saving those who love and trust Him.

Pray Together
- Thank God for loving us, forgiving our sin, and sending Jesus to pay the debt we could never repay.
- Commit to showing authentic faith through compassion, forgiveness, and practical love for the people God places in our path.
- Ask God to help you recognize the needs around you, remember the grace you have received through Christ, and love others in ways that point them to Jesus.

Instructions:
As a family or group, write the words “Love in Action” at the top of a piece of paper. Think of people you regularly encounter at home, church, school, work, or in your community. Write down several names and identify one practical way you could show Christlike love to each person.
Choose at least one action your family or group can take this week. It could be encouraging someone, helping with a need, sharing a meal, giving generously, or simply making time for someone who needs care. At the end of the week, talk about what happened and how God used the opportunity to help you put your faith into action.
