Series: Summit Weekend
Sermon: A Transformed Home

Scripture

1 Timothy 4:7-8 –  But have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness. For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Summary

Today, we celebrated Summit Weekend with Pastor Bobby Cooley of Empowered Homes ministry and Kingsland Baptist Church. We set aside this weekend each year to emphasize our Faith@Home ministry effort, our Legacy Milestone discipleship path for families, and our investment in marriages and parenting for the glory of God.

Pastor Bobby’s sermon discussed how spiritual disciplines help Christians look more like Jesus, emphasizing that these practices aren't meant to earn God's love but to align our outward lives with inner transformation.

Today’s message focused on two key areas of surrender: our attention and our attitude.
  • Surrendering our attention means filtering life through God's eyes and acknowledging His presence in daily moments. (1 Timothy 4:7; Ephesians 5:15-17).
  • Surrendering our attitude means trusting God first in all our emotional states and adopting the mindset of Jesus. (1 Timothy 4:8-10; Philippians 2:5-8)

The ultimate goal is to look more like Jesus. Through these two key surrendered areas, we can help others, especially those in our home, experience His goodness.

Pray Together

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your constant presence in our lives and for the example of Jesus, who shows us how to live. We ask for Your help surrendering our attention and attitudes to You, especially when we feel distracted or overwhelmed. We commit to acknowledging You in our daily moments and trusting You with our emotions. In Jesus' name, Amen.

OPTIONAL Family Activity

God Moments Journal

Create a "God Moments Journal" where family members can write or draw pictures of moments when they noticed God's presence throughout their day (like the breeze while fishing).

During dinner or bedtime, share these moments of “God sightings” with each other and thank God together for His presence in both big and small moments.
