Homebound Ministry

Some of our church family at Connection Point Church are unable to attend their church for worship and fellowship as they did before. The Homebound Ministry helps to fill that void and provide fellowship to our homebound members by assigning individuals to visit our homebound members each month.

This is where you come in!  We need volunteers to visit our homebound members and we also need a coordinator to lead this important ministry! The coordinator would regularly check with LifeGroups for members who have recently become homebound and assign them to volunteers to visit them, as well as recruit new volunteers as needed to make visits.

Missions

Operation Christmas Child

Throughout October, we are partnering with Operation Christmas Child to provide gifts to children around the world, resulting in entire communities being reached with God's Word in more than 100 countries. Here's how you can be part of sharing the gospel worldwide this October:

FILL A SHOEBOX

  1. Find a shoebox. Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately.
  2. Girl or boy? Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
  3. Fill with gifts. Select a medium to large "wow" item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies.
  4. Pray. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.
  5. Follow your box label. Donate $9 online (click on Operation Christmas Child link below) and receive a label to follow your box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift.
  6. Drop-off. Take your shoebox gift to the main lobby of either Connection Point Church campus by November 3.

DONATE

If you'd like to join with the church to fill an additional 100 shoeboxes, consider making a financial donation or donating some of the items below:

  • deflated soccer balls & pumps
  • wash clothes
  • bar soap
  • small reusable plastic cups
  • small toys for boys
  • small toys for girls
  • arts & crafts supplies

PACKING PARTY

On Sunday, November 3, we need volunteers to bring donations and help us pack at least 100 boxes. We’ll begin at 4:00pm in the Raytown main lobby and end at 6:00pm by praying over the boxes.

COLLECTION SITE VOLUNTEER

From November 18-25, Connection Point Church is the collection site for our area. Volunteer to welcome and assist people as they come to drop off boxes from their church or organization. Two or more people are needed for the shifts below:

  • Monday, November 18 – 4:00-6:00pm
  • Tuesday, November 19 – 4:00-6:00pm
  • Wednesday, November 20 – 5:00-8:00pm

Guatemala Mission Trip

We are excited to work alongside one of our own church members Sara (Drake) Salguero and her family at Casa Bernabé. The orphanage is a beautiful 13-acre campus near Guatemala City. It is home to more than 100 children who come out of difficult living situations. At Casa Bernabé (House of Comfort) children find acceptance, stability and healing in the love of Jesus. Join us January 11-25 (or the shorter option: January 11-18) as we return to Casa Bernabé to serve the children as well as the adults who serve them year-round. It’s never to late to join our team!

CASA BERNABE
Casa Bernabé Ministries exists to provide hope for vulnerable children in Guatemala, both within the walls of its campus and also within the surrounding community. The ministry seeks to provide the framework needed for each child to step out from the past trauma of their lives by providing physical needs, medical and psychological care, and spiritual guidance. Children are ministered to in church and youth group and educated in the Christian school on campus. Lives are transformed as the ties of generational poverty and abuse are broken.  By working with the Guatemalan court systems and biological families Casa Bernabé Ministries is leading the way in Guatemalan Global Orphan Care.

SALGUERO FAMILY
We are excited to work alongside one of our own church members Sara (Drake) Salguero and her family at Casa Bernabé. The orphanage is a beautiful 13-acre campus near Guatemala City. Edgar and Sara met in 2002 and were married 5 years later in 2007. If you have the gift of hospitality and love to serve a meal, will you consider volunteering with our special event catering team? When we host concerts, conferences, and meetings at Connection Point, those groups have their meals catered through the ROC Express. We are in need of individuals to help set the tables, serve the food, and clean up following the meals. You can volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows.
