Lead Pastor Search

As we walk through this season of transition, our church is prayerfully and purposefully pursuing the next Lead Pastor God is calling to Connection Point. This page is your go-to resource for information about this three-stage search process.
Stage 1 – Form Pastor Search Team
The Transition Team is not the team that will search for our next Lead Pastor, but they will lead the process of forming the Lead Pastor Search Team.

During this stage, the Transition Team will:
  • Receive nominations for the Lead Pastor Search Team from the church. See search team qualifications and how to nominate a church member.
  • Use nominations to select a team that well represents the multicultural and multigenerational diversity that makes up the Connection Point family
  • Present the Lead Pastor Search Team to the church for affirmation

UPDATE (9/25/25)
Thank you to everyone who prayerfully submitted nominations for the Lead Pastor Search Team. We received many thoughtful recommendations and are encouraged by your participation. After closing nominations on August 31, the Transition Team spent several weeks in prayerful discussion before taking the next step.

In late September, a group of 40 nominees was contacted and invited to prayerfully consider serving by completing a questionnaire about their testimony, walk with the Lord, and sense of calling to this role. We expect to hear back from all nominees by early October. From there, we will prayerfully assemble a Lead Pastor Search Team that best reflects our multigenerational and multicultural church family.

Our goal is to call a Special Called Business Meeting by early November, where the church will affirm the team that has been assembled. We will continue to keep you updated throughout this process.

UPDATE (10/26/25)
Thank you again to everyone who prayerfully submitted nominations for the Lead Pastor Search Team. We are excited to announce that after thorough discussion and intentional prayer, the Transition Team has formed a Lead Pastor Search Team that we believe reflects and represents our church family well.

The next step in the process is for the church to affirm the team at a special called business meeting on Sunday, November 2, at the close of our 9:30am worship service. While this meeting will be streamed online as part of our regular service, church members must be present in person to participate in the vote.

We encourage you to be here that morning to hear about the team, celebrate this milestone, and vote to officially begin the pastor search process.

UPDATE (11/2/25)
In a special called business meeting at the close of the morning worship service, the church voted to approve the Lead Pastor Search Team as recommended by the Lead Team, Pastor's Advisory Team (Transition Team), and Deacon Body. We are excited about this team and how well it represents the membership of Connection Point Church, and we are confident that these godly men and women will lead well through the pastor search process in the months ahead. We hope you will commit to encouraging members of the team and praying for each person by name throughout this process.

Stage 2 – Begin Pastor Search
During this stage, the Lead Pastor Search Team will receive and prayerfully evaluate resumes and candidates before conducting video and in-person interviews.
Stage 3 – Present Candidate to Church
Once the Lead Pastor Search Team believes they have found the man God has called to be the next Lead Pastor of Connection Point, they will present the candidate to the church for approval.

As stated in our Constitution & Bylaws, the Lead Pastor Search Team will bring the recommendation of a Lead Pastor. As a church, we will extend the call to the candidate upon the approval of 75% of the Active Members* voting at a special called business meeting.

More information about this stage will be provided as we near the end of Stage 2.

**An Active Member (as defined in our Constitution & Bylaws) has made a public statement of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, has been baptized by immersion, has completed the Starting Point New Member Class, and attends regularly.
